CER/Delegation of the EU to the UK discussion on 'The future of Belarus in a peaceful Europe'

19 November 2025
London

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is the exiled leader of Belarus's democratic movement and the most prominent challenger to Aliaksandr Lukashenka's authoritarian rule. Originally a political novice and the wife of blogger Siarhei Tsikhanouski, she entered the 2020 presidential race after her husband was barred from running. Her candidacy united diverse opposition forces and inspired an unprecedented wave of civic mobilisation across Belarus.

Pedro Serrano, EU Ambassador to the UK, will begin the event with some words of welcome. We will then hear from Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, and Katia Glod, Research Fellow and Deputy Head of Foreign Policy at the New Eurasian Strategies Centre, will respond. This will be followed by a Q&A discussion with the audience. The whole event will on-the-record.
