Camino Mortera-Martinez

Camino Mortera-Martinez is an associate fellow at the Centre for European Reform, where she was head of the Brussels office. She works on Europe in the world; and on EU politics and policies, including migration, security and the Schengen area. She also covers Spain's foreign and European policies.

Camino was most recently a senior adviser on European affairs to the Prime Minister of Spain.

Prior to joining the CER, Camino advised the European Commission on matters of free movement, criminal and civil law, counter-terrorism, police and judicial co-operation, and private international law. She has also worked as a lawyer, a consultant and a lobbyist in different European countries.

Camino is a qualified lawyer and holds a Master's Degree in Law by the University of Oviedo (Spain), an Exchange Diploma in Legal Studies by Cardiff University (UK) and a Master of Arts on EU Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe (Belgium).

She is a regular contributor to media worldwide and has given evidence to the European Parliament and parliaments in member-states.

Camino is currently based in Kigali, Rwanda.
