Senior research fellow – energy and climate economics
The Centre for European Reform is looking to recruit a bright and enthusiastic researcher to join the CER’s research team in its Brussels office.
The researcher will lead the CER’s work on the economics of EU energy and climate policy.
The researcher will contribute to policy discussions around how to achieve energy affordability and security while decarbonising the EU energy mix; how to address the EU’s vulnerability to supply shocks on global energy markets in a fraught geopolitical context; the role of the EU emissions trading system (EU ETS) as well as the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM).
CER researchers also edit each other’s work and liaise with the CER’s corporate members.
Requirements:
- At least four years’ experience of working on EU policy – in the public or private sectors, academia, media or think-tanks.
- A good understanding of the workings of EU institutions.
- Expertise in the economics of energy and climate change, and a good knowledge of EU policy in this area.
- Capacity to write English clearly and simply (without the help of artificial intelligence), and be comfortable speaking at seminars and to journalists.
- An ability to work with data is desirable.
The CER operates an open and transparent recruitment process. It is strongly committed to non-discrimination on grounds of gender, ethnicity, sexuality or age. We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority background.
