The Centre for European Reform is looking to recruit a bright and enthusiastic researcher to join the CER’s research team.

They would be based in either our London or Brussels office, but if based in London would need to visit Brussels on a regular basis.

The researcher will contribute to the work of the CER’s economics team, particularly an ongoing project on EU industrial policy and competitiveness, including work on clean-tech manufacturing, trade, state aid and Europe’s economic relationship with the United States and China.

CER researchers also edit each other’s work and liaise with the CER’s corporate members.

Requirements:

  • At least two years’ experience of working on EU policy – in the public or private sectors, academia, media or think-tanks.
  • A good understanding of the workings of EU institutions.
  • A good knowledge of EU industrial policy, including in clean tech, and understanding of concerns around European economic competitiveness.
  • Capacity to write English clearly and simply (without the help of artificial intelligence) and be comfortable speaking at seminars and to journalists.
  •  An ability to work with data is desirable.

Contract duration: 2 years
Hours: 09:00-17:00, 5 days a week
Salary: Dependant on experience, but will be competitive
Annual leave: 25 days, plus bank holidays and the period between Christmas and New Year.
Pension: 8% contribution
Location: London or Brussels
