Daniel Keohane was an associate fellow of the Centre for European Reform, working on Brexit, the future of the EU, and European security and defence policies (national, EU, NATO, UN). He has testified on those subjects before committees at the Irish Oireachtas (Parliament), the UK House of Commons, and the European Parliament, and has written articles for academic journals such as Survival, Journal of Common Market Studies, International Spectator, Política Exterior, Aspenia and Défense Nationale.

He previously worked at European Movement Ireland in Dublin, the Centre for Security Studies at ETH Zürich, the Foundation for International Relations (FRIDE) in Brussels and Madrid, the European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris, the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the National Defense University in Washington DC, and the Aspen Institute in Berlin. He was also a researcher at the CER from 2001-2006.
