John Springford is deputy director of the Centre for European Reform in London. He acted as secretary to the CER’s commission on the economic consequences of leaving the EU, which published its final report in June 2014. Before joining the CER, he worked at the Social Market Foundation and CentreForum think-tanks. He studied at Oxford and Glasgow universities and at the London School of Economics.

John has contributed opinion pieces to various newspapers, including the Financial Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian and The Telegraph. He regularly commentates on economic and political issues for the broadcast media. He has acted as a specialist advisor to the House of Commons Treasury committee, and has given evidence to the House of Commons, House of Lords and the British government’s Balance of Competences Review.
