Ron Stoop

Ron Stoop is a senior research fellow at the Centre for European Reform and a non-resident strategic advisor at the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies. His work focuses on the energy transition, climate policy and the clean technology industry.

Before joining the CER, Ron was working at the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies as a strategic analyst on geo-economics. Prior to that, Ron was an editor at the Dutch economic policy journal ESB, a well-known economic magazine among economists and policy-makers.

Ron has provided expert analysis on a range of topics on Dutch national television on programmes such as EenVandaag, Nieuwsuur, alongside comments in international print such as the South China Morning Post.

His areas of expertise include clean technologies, industrial policy, raw materials, trade policy and macro-economics. In 2022 his book ‘De Gegijzelde Economie’ was published, which analyses Dutch economic history and the consequences of inequality for economic stability.
